Job description: I am responsible for a wide spectrum of trust accounts and estates. My position further includes consultation with charitable organizations and work with numerous foundations and endowments. I am also involved in marketing efforts to create an awareness of the expertise at The Trust Company and recruit new business. Length of service: I am in my tenth year with the Personal Trust Department at Sterne Agee. I have worked in trusts and estates since 1981. Accreditations: CIMA®, Obtained Certified Investment Management Analyst designation from IMCA at The Wharton School in 2009. Education: Purdue University B.S. with highest distinction Family: I have been married to my husband, Bruce, for 32 years. We have two children: son – William Bruce Donnellan, MD, UAB and daughter – Sarah Kennedy Donnellan, RN, Duke University Hospital. Personal Business Philosophy: Be accountable. Expect the best from yourself and your peers. If you weave high standards and values into everyday practices, most everything else will fall into place. Advice to women in business: I would advise women to be informed and always continue to learn. I also believe it is important to respect yourself and create a mutual respect with others. He had many admirable characteristics including a strong work ethic, even temper, kind manner and comfort with being himself. Primary volunteer and community involvement: I have combined my career with community service taking an active role in various organizations, including the Junior League of Birmingham, St. Luke’s Church, United Way, and the YWCA. I am a member of Professional Advisory Boards for St. Vincent’s Foundation, Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham, and UAB as well as Alabama Planned Giving Council (Past President) and the Estate Planning Council.
