Job Description:  I am responsible for ensuring the Women’s & Infants’ service line at UAB Hospital is effective at producing optimal patient outcomes while remaining fiscally productive.  My team consists of 700+ employees.

Length of service: 15 Months in this role

Accreditations: Board Certified Public Health Clinical Nurse Specialist

Education: I received my AD in Nursing from Lawson State, BSN and MSN from Jacksonville State University.  I am currently pursuing my Doctorate in Nursing from UAB.

Family: Married with 2 daughters Mechelle & Yentl. Zephaniah and Joshua are my grandsons.

Personal Business Philosophy: For of those to whom much is given, much is required, Luke 12:48.  It is important to give back to the less fortunate to maintain success.

Advice to women in business: If you don’t believe you can do it, no one else will.

Best advice ever received: You have not, because you ask not.

Secret to surviving in business:  Regardless of what type of business you are in, your customer must believe your primary goal is to provide them with a great experience.

Strongest inspiration: That the sky is truly the limit to what I can have.

Secret to dealing with employees: It is important to be visible, honest and follow through on initiatives.  Transparency and predictability is crucial to leading a productive team.

What most people don’t realize about me: I really enjoy dancing.

Primary volunteer and community involvement: I actively participate in fundraisers for various charities.

Favorite place or way to relax:  Lying out on Shoal Bay’s beach in Anguilla with the ocean waves as my music.

Favorite restaurant: I like soul food, Mrs. B’s on 4th Ave. and Niki’s West are two of my favorite’s in Birmingham.

Additional thoughts:  I would like all Women to realize their self worth and know they can accomplish the goals they set.  It all starts with a dream.  If you can dream it, you can make it a reality.

Family: I have been married to my husband, Keith for 12 years and we have two beautiful children, Davis and Ava Claire.

What most people don’t realize about me: I have a life outside of UAB!
