The historic Virginia Samford Theatre is the oldest performing arts vennue in Jefferson County and is the birthplace for many other outstanding Birmingham arts organiazations. Built in 1927, the landmark playhouse has served as a beacon for local actors, dancers and musicians. Saved from the wrecking ball in 1999 by Virginia Samford Donovan, the intimate theatre was completely renovated in 2002 and is now considered one of the most unique perfomance and event spaces in the Southeast. | |
