Susan B. Brouillette, MPH, MBA, is the CEO of Alacare Home Health & Hospice, Alabama’s oldest and largest privately owned home health agency. The company is headquartered in Birmingham, with 27 branch offices serving almost every county in Alabama. 

Ms. Brouillette earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Birmingham-Southern College

in 1986 and earned both a Masters in Business Administration and a Masters in Public Health from the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 1988.  Following graduation, she joined Alacare in a full-time capacity, first as the Director of Community Relations and Education, then as Associate Director of Administrative Services, then as Chief Operations Officer and finally moving into the CEO position in 2002.

In 2002, Ms. Brouillette was honored as one of the Birmingham Business Journal's “Top 40 Under 40.”  She also received a nomination for the Birmingham Business Journal Rising Star Award for 2003. The Birmingham Business Journal named Ms. Brouillette one of the Top Birmingham Women in 2006.

Alacare has been recognized by the Birmingham Business Journal as one of the area's Top 100 Privately Held Corporations due to Ms. Brouillette's leadership, and Alacare is listed on the Birmingham Business Journal’s list of the largest women-owned businesses in the Birmingham area. The Birmingham Business Journal named Alacare one of the Top 10 Best Places to Work in 2006 and 2007.

Ms. Brouillette is on the Board of the Hospice & Home Health Fund of Alabama (HHHFA), Alacare’s non-profit organization that provides monetary assistance to help hospice and home health patients throughout the state stay in their homes.

Along with her brother, John G. Beard, JD, MBA, Ms. Brouillette spearheaded the fundraising effort for the UAB Center for Palliative Care and sponsored the Alacare Family Room there.

Ms. Brouillette is an active member and the current president of the Shades Valley Rotary Club. She was the recipient of the Shades Valley Rotary Club’s 2005 Vocational Achievement Award.

She serves on the Board of the American Cancer Society and the Board of Directors of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama, and was co-chairperson of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama 2006 Founders Dinner. Ms. Brouillette is also a supporter and participant in the American Diabetes Association’s “America's Walk for Diabetes,” serving as honorary co-chair in 2003.  Ms. Brouillette is a member of the Board of Directors for the Better Business Bureau of Central Alabama and the United Way of Central Alabama.  In 2007 she was named to the Dean’s Advisory Board for the UAB School of Health Professions.

Ms. Brouillette is married to David B. Brouillette of Birmingham and they have two daughters, Charlotte and Kathryn.   They are members at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.
