The UAB Health System is internationally renowned for its expert physicians and groundbreaking medical research, but, more importantly, it stands out for its strong commitment to compassionate, personal care for every patient. Job description: I lead a remarkable department of people who manage the marketing activities of 33 UAB clinical specialties. We also manage the branding and positioning strategies, as well as the internet sites of the UAB Health System. Favorite Awards & Honors: I really enjoy seeing my staff win awards for their innovative projects. I also enjoyed serving as Chairman of the Chief Marketing Officer Council of the University Health System Consortium this past year. Education: I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I am currently working on a master’s degree in communications with a focus on organizational communication. Family: I am married to Robin and have three beautiful daughters, Erin, Jessica and Kimberly, and a son, Jonathan. Personal Business Philosophy: Always do the right thing, those who do not typically stumble and fall. Advice to women in business: Don’t give up on your dream. Anything is possible. Best advice ever received: All of life is a three legged stool composed of your work, your family and your spiritual belonging, lose one and everything becomes wobbly. Secret to surviving in business: Build relationships. Strongest inspiration: my husband and children Being in business has taught me: That you must stand up for what you believe in and always be true to yourself. Someone should have told me: That there were other ways to be successful beyond taking typing and shorthand in high school. Secret to dealing with employees: Always try to lead by example. What most people don't realize about me: That my very first job was a dental assistant.
