Length of service: Five years.   Previously chair of history and political science at Judson College for Women.

Education: Ph.D. and M. A., history, Auburn University; BA., history, University of Alabama-Huntsville; post-doctoral work, University of St. Andrews, U. K.

Background: Sixth-generation Alabamian, grew up on a farm, Madison County, and inherited love of teaching and education from a school principal grandfather and an asst. school superintendent grandmother.   A great-grandmother was a seamstress to support her family.

Personal Business Philosophy: The best investments are in people.
