Women
have accomplished great things. And it started with a common belief
- that together we could put ideas into action. Which was exactly
the premise behind the Alabama Women's Economic Summit. We thank those
who joined us at Samford University for this important forum.
A powerhouse
group worked actively for months to help make the Summit 2000 vision
a reality. Event topic areas on career issues, effective leadership,
the new economy, how to start a business or grow a business, striking
a balance between work and your life in a 24-7 world, harnessing
technology, mentoring, youth track and more.
Alabama
women were able to build relationships, to learn from each other,
and ultimately, to develop plans for legislative, educational, technological
and economic change that meets the critical needs of American families.
The
conference brought women together to consider, debate, and endorse
issues that will be an integral part of doing business:
- We
met and shared information with other professional women, including
leaders in the corporate, political, and social arenas.
- We
discovered ways to participate in programs and organizations committed
to supporting and creating opportunities for women.
- We
enjoyed discussion groups covering various topics from Leadership
to Finance.
- We
heard nationally renowned speakers: Elizabeth Dole, Stedman Graham,
Deborah Norville, Lynn Martin, and others.
Summit '98 and Summit 2000 have been vital forums for change.
